Okay, so, I’ve been eyeing this watch, this CopyOMEGA Speedmaster 38mm, for a while now. It’s a classic, you know? People say it fits well, especially if you don’t have huge wrists. And it’s got that whole history thing going on, which is pretty cool.
So I started lookin’ around. They got these fancy stores, the “specialty stores”, where you can get a brand spankin’ new one. But man, those prices! Let’s just say my wallet started crying just looking at ’em.
Now, I ain’t no watch expert. Not even close. But I did some digging, read some stuff online. Seems like this particular Speedmaster, the 38mm one, is a solid choice. It looks good, and from what I gather, it’s built pretty darn well.
But the big question: where do you actually buy one of these things? I mean, I know they exist in those fancy stores, but I was wonderin’ if there were other options. Heard rumors about department stores, the kind you find at the mall, maybe having them. So, off I went, exploring.
First, I hit up the local mall. Checked out places like T J Maxx, Dillard’s. Even tried the bigger ones, like Belk and JCPenney. Walked around, asked the folks at the jewelry counters. Most of them just gave me blank stares when I mentioned “Speedmaster 38mm.” One guy, I think he was at Kohl’s, kinda knew what I was talking about, but they didn’t have it. He mumbled something about “special orders” and “waiting lists.” Didn’t sound too promising.
I even swung by Walmart, figured why not, right? It’s a “Supercenter,” they got everything! But nope, no luck there either. Strike one, two, three, and four. Starting to feel a little discouraged, I’ll admit.
Then, I remembered what I read online. This is something that holds its value, this Speedmaster, and especially the 38mm version has been doing great since it came out. The Moonwatch, they call it, the classic Speedmaster, with the black dial, and the manual wind. They even have them in steel, or 18K gold. I decided I had to try these specialty stores again. I went to one in the next town, asked for the 38mm, and a nice lady walked me through the whole process.
This lady, she knew her stuff. She told me about the automatic movement, the Co-Axial escapement, the Calibre 3330, or whatever. I tried to keep up. She showed me the different models, some with diamonds, some without. They all looked amazing, but I was set on the classic look.
Ended up, they had one in stock, the exact one I wanted. Stainless steel, classic dial, no diamonds. We talked price, which was still a bit ouch, but I had saved up, you know? And after trying it on, feeling the weight on my wrist, seeing it in the light… I was sold.

So yeah, that’s my story of getting my hands on a CopyOMEGA Speedmaster 38mm. It wasn’t as easy as walking into any old store, but it was worth the hunt. Now I’ve got this beauty on my wrist, and I gotta say, it feels pretty good. Just gotta be careful not to bang it on anything. Also, I learned that sometimes they make special edition, these Speedmasters, in limited runs, and those are rare and expensive.
