So, I’ve been eyeing this Rolex GMT-Master II Batman Bezel for a while now. You know, the one with the black and blue ceramic bezel that everybody’s been going crazy about. I finally decided to take the plunge and get myself one, but not just any regular one, I wanted something a little different. That’s when I thought, why not try making a high imitation version myself? Sounds crazy, right? But I was up for the challenge!
Getting Started
First things first, I needed to find a decent base watch. Something that looked and felt like a Rolex but wouldn’t cost me an arm and a leg. After some digging around online stores, I found a pretty good homage watch that had a similar case and bracelet to the GMT-Master II. It wasn’t perfect, but it was a good starting point.
The Batman Bezel
Next up, the most important part – the Batman bezel. This was the trickiest part of the whole project. I searched high and low for a ceramic bezel insert with the right colors and font. I found a few options, but none of them were quite right. They were either too expensive or the quality just wasn’t there. Then, I stumbled upon a guy who makes custom bezel inserts. I sent him some pictures of the real Batman bezel and explained what I was looking for. He seemed confident he could make it, so I crossed my fingers and placed an order.
Putting It All Together
While waiting for the bezel, I started working on the watch itself. I carefully removed the original bezel and cleaned up the case. I also ordered a new set of hands that were a closer match to the ones on the real GMT-Master II. When the new bezel insert finally arrived, I was so excited. It was as good as I was expecting and I am so happy about that. I carefully fitted it onto the watch, and man, it looked amazing!
The Final Touches
With the bezel in place, I swapped out the old hands for the new ones. This was a bit fiddly, but I managed to get it done without damaging anything. The last thing I did was polish up the case and bracelet to give it that extra shine. I even found a guy who could make a custom dial that looked exactly like the original, and I got that dial swap in place. The watch is just perfect now, I cannot tell it’s a high imitation one.
The Result
After all that work, I finally had my very own high imitation Rolex GMT-Master II Batman. It’s not the real deal, of course, but it looks incredibly close. And the best part is, I made it myself! It was a fun and rewarding project, and I learned a lot along the way. I’ve been wearing it for a few weeks now, and I’ve gotten tons of compliments on it. People can’t believe it’s not a real Rolex!
Oh, I saw a listing online, someone was selling a used Rolex GMT-Master II Batman for like $15,314. And also, there are a lot of people saying that the real Rolex Batman is a good investment because the price will continue to go up. I am not sure about that, but I do like the watch I made, I spent way less and got a watch that looks almost exactly the same, I am a genius!
