Okay, so, I saw this Prada Galleria Saffiano Special Edition Bag online the other day, and I just had to try and make one myself. It’s one of those bags that they keep remaking, so I figured, why not give it a shot? It’s called “redefined and recreated season after season”, right?
First off, I went online to see what this bag was all about. I found out that it’s made of this Saffiano leather, which isn’t fake leather, by the way. It’s real calfskin that’s been treated to make it tougher and water-resistant. That got me thinking, I need to get my hands on some of this Saffiano leather.
I looked up some online stores, and I found some that sold Prada bags, so I got an idea of how the bag looked, its features, and all that. I saw that this bag can be more expensive than some LV bags! They talked about the enamel triangle logo, the two rolled top handles, and the adjustable shoulder strap. I made a note of all these details. It says “in stock” on the store, means it is very popular, right?
Then, I started thinking about where to get the materials. I know Prada has outlets in places like Milan, Venice, and Rome, and apparently, it’s cheaper to buy Prada in Italy than in the USA. But since I’m not in Italy, I had to find another way.
I also read that real Prada bags have this special stitching – straight, small, tight, and uniform stitches that run parallel to the seams and are angled slightly upward. Plus, the stitches almost match the color of the bag. I knew I had to get this stitching right if I wanted my bag to look legit.
So, I went searching for Saffiano leather and found a few places that sold it. I ordered a piece that matched the color I wanted for my bag. While waiting for it to arrive, I practiced the stitching. I wanted to make sure I could replicate that distinctive Prada stitch.

Once the leather arrived, I carefully cut it according to the dimensions I had jotted down from looking at the original bag online. I made sure to get the measurements just right. I managed to find an enamel triangle logo online that looked pretty close to the original. I attached it to the bag, along with the handles and the shoulder strap. It was starting to look like a real Prada bag!
After a lot of work, I finally finished it. It wasn’t perfect, but I was pretty proud of how it turned out. It looked similar to the real Small Prada Galleria Saffiano Special Edition Bag. Sure, it might not hold its value like a real Prada, but I learned a lot, and it was a fun project. People say Prada bags are well made, maybe mine is too. I might even try to sell it as a preloved item and see what happens. Who knows, right?
