I’ve been wanting to get a decent watch for my wife for a while now. She’s not really into flashy stuff, but she does appreciate quality and a bit of classic style. So, naturally, I started looking into Rolex, since they’re, well, Rolex. But man, their catalog is huge, and honestly, a bit overwhelming.
First, I started by just browsing online, looking at all the different models on various websites. Scrolling through endless pictures of watches, I felt like I was drowning in a sea of diamonds and gold. Not really my wife’s style, or mine for that matter.
Then, I decided to narrow down the search. I focused on the ladies’ models since that’s what I was after. Even then, there were so many! Oyster Perpetual, Datejust, Lady-Datejust… it was tough to know where to even begin.
I spent a few evenings reading articles and forum posts about the different models. One thing I noticed is that a lot of people seem to really like the Oyster Perpetual for its simple and elegant design. I started seeing it everywhere, honestly, I went down the street and I kept seeing people wearing one, which was an important factor for me.
- Simple and clean look
- Durable and reliable movement
- A good entry point into the Rolex world
Focusing on the Oyster Perpetual
After reading a ton, I decided to focus on the Oyster Perpetual. It seemed like the perfect balance of classic style and practicality. But then came another hurdle: size and dial color. They’ve got everything from a petite 28mm to a more substantial 36mm. And the dial colors? Don’t even get me started. Everything from classic silver to bright pink.
I spent some time thinking about what my wife would actually wear. She’s got pretty small wrists, so I figured the 28mm or 31mm would probably be best. As for the dial color, I thought about her wardrobe and what she usually wears. Something neutral like silver or maybe even a subtle blue seemed like a safe bet.
Finally, after weeks of research and deliberation, I pulled the trigger and ordered a 31mm Oyster Perpetual with a silver dial. The whole process was way more involved than I initially thought it would be, but I’m pretty confident that I made the right choice.
Now, I’m just waiting for it to arrive. I can’t wait to see her reaction when I give it to her. Hopefully, she loves it as much as I do!
