Hey folks, it’s your boy back again with another little project I’ve been tinkering with. So, the other day, I was scrolling through some stuff online, and I stumbled upon this Yves Saint Laurent YSL JUNE BOX BAG. I’d heard the name before – they say it’s a real classic, a good one to have, you know? Founded way back in 1961, this Yves Saint Laurent brand has been around the block. They say Saint Laurent is not gonna stop making those bags with the YSL logo. It got me thinking, “Could I maybe, just maybe, try to remake one of these myself?”
So I started digging around. I found the Saint Laurent official online store and did some more research. This JUNE BOX BAG, it’s described as a “micro box bag with flap decorated with the CASSANDRE and diamond-quilted overstitching.” Sounds fancy, right? And get this, they say “ALL PRODUCTS ORDERED WILL BE WRAPPED IN A SIGNATURE SAINT LAURENT BOX.” I figured, “Okay, that’s a nice touch, I can try to replicate that too.”
Then came the part where I had to figure out how to actually make the darn thing. I learned that all Saint Laurent bags have a serial number. Most of them are printed on a small rectangular leather tab, stitched into the lining of one of the interior pockets. Others have it pressed into the interior of the pocket. I made a mental note of that. It seemed like a crucial detail if I wanted my remake to be somewhat legit.
I gathered my materials, some leather, thread, and a few other bits and bobs. I’m no expert craftsman, mind you, but I’m pretty handy. I started by trying to mimic that diamond-quilted overstitching. It was tough, I’ll admit. Took a few tries to get it looking somewhat decent. Then, I worked on shaping the bag, cutting the leather, and stitching it all together. It was a real labor of love, let me tell ya.
After a whole lot of trial and error, and a few choice words here and there, I finally had something that resembled the YSL JUNE BOX BAG. It wasn’t perfect, not by a long shot, but it was mine. I even managed to create a little box for it, although it definitely wasn’t as fancy as the “SIGNATURE SAINT LAURENT BOX.” I added a serial number detail, printed into a little leather tab, just like the real ones.
The End Result
- The bag actually held its shape!
- The stitching, while a bit wonky, was holding together.
- I felt a real sense of accomplishment, even though it was just a little DIY project.
So, there you have it. That’s the story of how I tried to remake a Yves Saint Laurent YSL JUNE BOX BAG. It was a fun little adventure, and who knows, maybe I’ll try my hand at another one someday. It’s most worth it for me. Until next time, y’all take care!
